Fitterfly Uplift: Mental Wellness Program Launched for Students and Communities

Fitterfly Uplift

Mumbai: Addressing the rising mental health challenges among India’s youth, Fitterfly has launched Fitterfly Uplift, a structured mental wellness program tailored for students, workplaces, and communities.

The initiative comes after a national study across nine Indian states involving over 8,500 college students revealed that nearly one in three reported symptoms of depression.

Every year, lakhs of students enter college and face stress beyond academics — from long study hours and competitive pressures to hostel adjustments.

These struggles often lead to anxiety, loneliness, and in some cases, harmful coping mechanisms such as smoking, alcohol, or substance use. In severe scenarios, stress may even trigger self-harm or suicidal thoughts.

This mental health crisis is not limited to educational institutions. According to Fitterfly’s data, nearly 65% of people managing diabetes on its digital health platform report stress as a major factor affecting their condition.

Recognising the deep connection between mental and physical well-being, Fitterfly developed Fitterfly Uplift to deliver personalized, structured therapy beyond brief counselling sessions.

What Makes Fitterfly Uplift Different

Unlike many existing services that provide short, rotating counselling calls, Fitterfly Uplift pairs each participant with a dedicated clinical psychologist for structured, one-hour live sessions. The program is also integrated with on-ground college teams, psychiatrists, and hospitals to ensure that high-risk cases receive timely and professional support.

The program’s pilot rollout took place at IIT Kharagpur, where Fitterfly’s psychology team, led by Neha Verma, Head of Psychology & Wellbeing, along with senior psychologists Nishul Gupta and Vinika Rawat, conducted a three-day workshop. Within 48 hours, over 650 students registered to participate, demonstrating the strong demand for accessible mental health solutions.

Prof Koel Chowdhary, Associate Dean of Student Affairs at IIT Kharagpur, noted, “We felt the need for our students to have direct access to trained mental health professionals, without barriers or delays. Fitterfly Uplift meets that need effectively.”

Expansion Plans for Fitterfly Uplift

Commenting on the program’s future, Dr Arbinder Singal, Co-founder and CEO of Fitterfly, said, “IIT Kharagpur is just the start. We are seeing strong interest from campuses and employee wellness teams across India. With Fitterfly Uplift, our vision is to make professional mental health support accessible, consistent, and stigma-free — wherever it’s needed.”

Following its success at IIT Kharagpur, Fitterfly Uplift is set to expand to other academic institutions, workplaces, and community settings. The program adapts through workshops, consultations, staff training, and standard operating protocols for high-risk cases, offering organisations a ready framework to strengthen mental well-being.
